There is little doubt that Western culture is in desperate straights today. The assault of the Left on multiple fronts pushes hard at the traditions and values that conservatives hold dear and are necessary to the existence of Western civilization itself, and it is no understatement to say that the Left and Right are at war for the soul of the Western world.
The 2019 edition of what is my personal favorite sports event is upon us! The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is the most enjoyable of team sports playoffs to watch, in my considered opinion. I must admit bias here. Basketball was the only team sport I played on an organized level and was my first love as a youth. I became far more serious and competed on the professional level in […]
This journal has chronicled the devastating and dangerous movement to enshrine “transgenderism” as a basic human right on several occasions. In the past few years, advocates of this reality-denying cult have begun to quietly manipulate the legal system to their ends, especially concerning what can only be called forced transitioning of young children.
In part one we saw that building a physical barrier on America’s southern border is a wise and moral action to confront the invasion of illegal aliens into the country. However, though it is wise and moral, building a border wall, even a wall that completely halted illegal entry, would not be enough. There are two additional measures that must be taken to halt the illegal immigration threat. Moreover, they […]
I must admit rarely visit Twitter these days except to post. I prefer sites with less censorship of conservative views in particular. However, my account lives and I monitor it occasionally to keep tabs on friends and foes alike. I think of it as using the enemy to better know the enemy. A particular post caught my attention recently dealing with the subject of the fight over a border wall […]
The current crop of freshmen Representatives in the U.S. Congress feature some colorful personalities as well as diverse perspectives. Admittedly, the Democratic newbies have gotten the most attention because of radical statements, policy proposals, and controversies. However, there is one Republican rookie who has been turning heads, Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw. It might be illuminating to assess this GOP rising star in comparison with the Left’s most meteoric House member, […]
The public in America, and wherever the American mainstream media extends its reach, have recently been subjected to a multitude of what are false ‘hate crimes,’ the latest of which is the Jussie Smollett debacle. The details of that particular hoax are well-known and will not be recounted here.
However, there are quite a few other relatively recent examples of alleged hate crimes which have also been shown to be false. To clarify, all of these examples have happened since President Trump was elected in 2016.
The verbal barrage has been constant and unwavering against Trump voters in the Leftmedia. We have been labeled with various hateful appellants including racist, Nazis, misogynists and so on.
There is an implied question lurking behind these accusations. It is not expressed much directly, but Leftists want to know why anyone, let alone 62 million ‘anyones,’ would vote for Donald Trump.
The classic film “Anatomy of a Murder” was released in 1959. It stars the great Jimmy Stewart, my personal choice for the best actor ever. Stewart portrays a lawyer defending a suspect charged with killing a man as revenge for that man raping and killing his wife. 60 years later the atmosphere in America has been tainted by a different sort of homicide. It is the most malevolent form of killing […]
President’s Day in America was Monday, February 18, 2019. It is an amalgamation of two former holidays commemorating the birthdays of Presidents Abraham Lincoln [Feb. 12, 1809], and George Washington [Feb. 22nd, 1732].
These two are widely regarded as the greatest American presidents in history. There are solid arguments for either to be number one, however, there is no doubt the other would hold the title of second greatest Chief Executive.
…Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, the president announced that he would be officially declaring an emergency on the border, along with signing a woefully inadequate spending bill that provides about 1.4 billion for the wall. This will be challenged in court, as the president noted, but it needed to be done anyway, to help secure some wall funding, especially since he received anemic support from the timid Republicans in the first two years of his term.
Much attention has been showered upon the first proposed bill introduced by new Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez popularly known as the “Green New Deal.” There are many flaws in this ‘plan’ that have been judiciously pointed out by capable commentators on every type of media platform. Thankfully, the members of the House of Representatives have not yet considered the proposal. It is not quite a ‘finished’ bill despite being co-sponsored by […]
The tacit endorsement of infanticide by the Democratic governor Northam of Virginia originally reaped intense criticism, though not from most of his party. Political damage control kicked in the next day with the ‘discovery’ of photos in his medical college gallery of Northam supposedly in blackface, or maybe in a Klan hood, … it’s complicated. So now there are multiple calls from prominent Democrats for Northam to resign. Not for […]
In 1919, W.B. Yeats composed the haunting and powerful verse, “The Second Coming.” A few of the lines from his apocalyptic reflection in the aftermath of World War 1 are particularly instructive a century later. …Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, … The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. Surely some revelation is at hand; Surely […]
This journal has featured several articles about the media and the shameful way they have “reported” in the past. Additionally, the plague of the social media attack dogs has exploded in modern times and made the situation immeasurably worse. One thing I have learned about observing journalism and media is this, when you think you’ve seen the worst from them, they will prove you wrong. The latest outrages emerge from […]
Friday, January 18, 2019, marked the 46th Annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. It is the largest annual gathering of pro-life advocates in the world with crowds regularly in the hundreds of thousands. The massive crowds braved the cold of a D.C. January to help defend the first unalienable human right in the Declaration of Independence, the right to life. Defending Life from the White House Vice President Mike […]
Monday, January 21, 2019, was America’s official date for this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The day has obtained the lofty national status of a three-day holiday, despite the fact that King’s actual birth date is January 15th, 1929. In consideration of the day, I am indulging in a bit of a thought experiment. Consider what it might be like today if MLK Jr. had not been assassinated that […]
A recent L.A. Times article revealed the growing acceptance of anti-Semitism by Leftists. The gist of the piece was that someone could be anti-Semitic and yet still be a good person. A columnist for the Los Angeles Times dismissed the accusations of anti-Semitism levied against the leaders of the Women’s March because she said they are “advancing the causes of women.” The article’s title was revealing. “Can you admire Louis […]
President Trump challenged the Left on his address to the nation Tuesday evening, January 8, 2019. The actual words were addressed to the American people and Democrats in Congress, but the challenge is directed to the Left. Trump’s challenge is twofold. A challenge to recognize the danger and respond to the crisis at the border. How was this spoken to the Left? The Democratic party is now completely subservient to […]
Recently the publication “The Weekly Standard” ceased to exist. Its publisher, Bill Kristol, has been famous as a ‘never-Trump’ conservative. I must confess I never really understood the phenomena of never Trump conservatives. The group began by not giving the president a chance to enact any policy and now continue complaining about him despite his performance on actual issues and policy. Those who declared and remain never-Trumpers and consider themselves […]
One of the certainties of 2018 was that it was difficult to be certain about what was coming next. Political and cultural turmoil seemed the norm during the past year.
From the midst of the raging pace of outrage for 2018, there has emerged some disturbing trends which will linger into 2019.
Number seven of a seven-part series on virtue The culmination of this series on virtue is an examination of the chief of virtues, love. There are more words that have been written or spoken concerning love than perhaps any other subject. It is safe to say that most of these words have to do with a romantic type of love. Love as a virtue is not that kind of love. […]
Christmas can be a confusing season. The most commercial of holidays is also supposed to be one of the most sacred of days. Moreover, the expression of the sacredness of the day is constantly opposed by those who don’t believe in sacredness at all. And what is for many the most joyful of times for others fuels deep depression and loneliness. The Christmas season is confusing because it is […]
Number six in a series of seven articles on virtue Courage is one of the most important of virtues. In fact, it is involved in the practice of all other virtues. In hope of increasing the understanding of this virtue, here are some essential components of courage. Components which define both what courage is and is not. Courage Is Not The Absence of Fear This is a common myth that […]
December 7, 2018, was the commemoration of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor which occurred 77 years ago. That event propelled America into World War II in 1941 changing the course of world history. The events leading to the attack reveal that Pearl Harbor Co-Commanders Admiral Kimmel and General Short ignored significant warnings from their superiors prior to the fateful Sunday. Moreover, other ignored warnings and mistakes in communication on […]
The hottest story on the planet at the moment is taking place at the southern border of the United States. The unwashed masses of ordinary Americans are being assured by the Leftmedia’s press politburo that illegal aliens rushing the border are only a problem because of President Trump. The now infamous photo of a woman running from tear gas with children in tow is offered as evidence of Trump’s evil […]
The photo above is part of a larger poster from the Pilgrim Hall Museum. It represents about half of the survivors of the Mayflower that were at the second Thanksgiving. We have once more come to the time of Thanksgiving in America. Thanksgiving is a unique holiday because of its origins in American history. It is the quintessential “American” holiday. However, it is no stretch to say that Thanksgiving in […]
Number five in a seven-part series on virtue The virtue of kindness can be a confusing concept to understand because it can be defined in many ways. Perhaps the best way to understand kindness is to examine other words associated with kindness. The Merriam-Webster online dictionary uses two important words in defining kindness. Those words are affection and favor. Kindness Is an Expression of Affection If one demonstrates kindness to […]
November 11, 2018 was the 100th anniversary of the end of the Great War, aka World War 1. You and I know it better as Veteran’s Day. Veteran’s Day exists on November 11 because of Armistice Day in 1918. The “war to end all wars,” as it was then called, didn’t accomplish the task of ending wars. In fact, many who have studied WW1 conclude that the terms of Germany’s […]
In the first half of President Trump’s first term, political and cultural turmoil has seemed the norm. The consensus of opinion is that America is a ‘divided country.’ One can read that phrase in every news outlet from Left to Right these days. However, far fewer would agree about the reason for the hostilities. The conservative would say the Left’s juvenile and violent behavior is the reason. The Left would […]
Number four in a seven-part series on virtue. Perhaps the most common word regularly associated virtue in patience. Most have heard the saying, “Patience is a virtue.” Virtues are supposed to be good characteristics in a person. Attributes that are beneficial and to be desired. Yet, patience is not desirable to most. Why not? Perhaps that is because patience is misunderstood by most. Nor do most want to pay the […]
Since President Donald Trump was elected, the Left has engaged in a non-stop tirade against his very existence. Their angst is so pronounced that it even has acquired a name, “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” Those who believe TDS is a myth are mistaken. Those who believe TDS isn’t dangerous aren’t paying attention. We are on the cusp of the 2018 mid-term elections in America. In addition to that, it is the […]
Number three in a Sunday series on virtue The oath of the Boy Scouts of America reads, On my honor, I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight. This quote is probably the best application in words of what the virtue […]
This is the final part of a series cataloging some of the areas where the Left is in conflict with science. Part one dealt with the hoax of ‘climate change.’ The second piece concerned the deceptions of abortion. Part three chronicled the tragic trend of transgenderism, and part four detailed the errors of economics from the Left. Here we will examine the most critical battlefield in this struggle, the education […]
Number two in a new Sunday Series on virtues Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” Pilate said to him, “What is truth?” After he had said […]
The first three parts of this series dealt with the leftist distortions of climate change, abortion, and transgenderism. Part four examines the Left’s erroneous ideas concerning economics. Economics is not a ‘hard’ science in the same way as physics or mathematics. However, economics directly affects ordinary people more than most ‘hard’ sciences. That is seen whether one is discussing a wealthy nation, such as the United States, or an impoverished country in the third […]
Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. [Psalm 29:2 KJV] The first of a new continuing Sunday series about Godly virtues What do you believe is beautiful? Is beauty a judgment of the eye from one person to another? Is the beauty of a piece of music only realized by what is heard? Beauty is often thought of as […]
I had intended to return to the series about the Left’s war on science this week. Last week’s post was an interruption in that series. Part four will be coming soon, so be watching! I have heard that the late Andrew Breitbart once stated that ‘politics is downstream from culture.’ If he is correct, the latest public display of vitriol by the Left is cause for serious alarm. The fact […]
The entire world has been witness to a disgraceful display during the hearings concerning Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. The outrageous protests during the actual hearings contributed to a circus of Leftist anger cloaked in ridiculous costumes. By this juncture of the Trump presidency, most observers have grown used to such clownish behavior. The fact that it can and does escalate to violence from the Left is also growing disturbingly […]
There has been a meteoric rise in the acceptance of transgenderism as a human right. It has garnered enough support from the Left that to question transgenderism is to be ‘transphobic’ and disqualified from the discussion. The tragic fact is transgenderism is worse than unscientific. It produces substantial harm to individuals and the general public. The Left has adopted this to further a cultural narrative, regardless of the tragic […]
I begin with an apology to my readers. I had planned to present the case against the radical environmentalism of the Left in this article. That is still coming so stay tuned. However, the desperate attempts by Democrats to stop the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court suggested a change in the order. The vehemence of this opposition has an explanation that is part of the leftist war […]
“Hurricane Florence” is the latest super-duper type storm (tech language alert), which is being touted as evidence of a man-made climate change formerly global warming apocalyptic event. This is not really a surprising development. ‘Climate change’ is one of the Left’s most prominent weapons in their continuing war on science. This is part one of a series of five articles demonstrating that positions of the Left in the scientific arena have little to […]
It has been 17 years since the 9/11 attacks on America in New York and Washington D.C. The heroes of the aftermath in those two cities deserve today’s recognition and honor. Moreover, lest we forget the heroes of Flight 93 who perished foiling a third attack in the wilds of Pennsylvania, they will be honored today as well. It is vitally important that Americans should pause and reflect on the […]
There is a multitude of hot news items blazing across various media outlets at the present time. Everything from the Kavanaugh Flying Senate Circus to the Mueller/Cohen/Trump “news” is being blanketed by ‘objective’ coverage and slanted commentary. However two bits of news were more disturbing to me than any of the rest. One dealt with a purposeful historical error by omission. Ironically, it has already begun to fade from modern […]
There has been a bundle of recent news about the incredibly positive direction of the American economy under the tutelage of President Donald Trump. What? You haven’t heard? Other than tweets from the president, that is. Rest assured, both the economic success and the stories about it exist. Both those stories which misinterpret, mislabel, and misinform, and those which deal with the facts and the numbers supporting them. Additionally, the […]
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution was crafted to help ensure five different fundamental freedoms, religion, speech, press, peaceful assembly, and to petition the government. This is the text of the First Amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or of the right of the people peaceably to […]
President Donald Trump pulled the security clearance of Obama’s former head of the Central Intelligence Association John Brennan on August 16, 2018. According to the Left, this was a violation of Brennan’s First Amendment right to free speech. Moreover, this is just the latest egregious move by the president to silence dissent if you believe the screeching of leftists in politics and the Leftmedia. Yet, the facts do not […]
The now infamous recent hire of Sarah Jeong by the New York Times has caused a new surge of debate about what racism actually entails. Ms. Jeong’s extremely disparaging statements against white people for just being white were truly horrible. The Times defended Thursday its hiring of Ms. Jeong as its lead opinion writer on technology after the emergence of more than a dozen racially charged tweets, such as “[d]umbass […]
In the previous article, we examined the Leftmedia’s hateful vitriol against President Trump and its harmful consequences. The very existence of what I call the Leftmedia is harmful by itself. Downstream damage from their influence is serious indeed. However, the worst consequence of such hate-mongering is that the leftist politicians have followed suit. The political leftism is most dangerous because it has villainous implications for the continued existence of America’s […]
