The “March for Our Lives” garnered majority media attention on Saturday, March 24, 2018. By now everyone knows this all began as a response “by students” to the terrible shooting and murder of 17 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on February 14.
There has been commentary from both the right and left about all facets of the event. Both praise and criticism have flowed for the event, speakers, supporters, and sponsors. The key players in the march itself can be divided into three groups. The misguided students prodded by the malicious media and orchestrated by the malevolent Left.
The Misguided Students
The students, both anonymous and those who are rapidly becoming media celebrities are seriously misguided in perception and philosophy. The evidence is clearly seen in the misinformed inflammatory statements made by their spokespeople.
These teens’ perception of the shooting and mass shootings, in general, is flawed and skewed toward the Left. Their perception simply does not match reality and that is to be expected. High school students who just experienced the trauma of such a horrible act will have their perception tainted by fear and anger.
Moreover, the perception of the students has been tainted by over a decade of educational indoctrination in the public schools. The leftist philosophy of life, namely Marxism, is paraded and pushed upon students from the earliest ages.
As a result, the majority of high school age children see the shooting and its cause with left-wing blinders on. Falsehoods are promoted as real, such as mass shootings at school are an epidemic, and the NRA is directly responsible for them all.
The Malicious Media
The second player of note in these protests is the malicious media promoting their agenda and prodding students to adopt and publicize it. The examples of this are abundant.
The use of children to promote the anti-gun agenda is not unprecedented. However, this time they are giving massive media access to certain teens in order to utilize their victimhood by having them advocate for leftist gun policies.
Of course, these media outlets are ignoring and even suppressing student victims of the shooting who disagree and support the 2nd. CNN gave a prime example when they canceled an interview with student Kyle Kashuv who opposed the march. Kashuv reacted on Twitter.
“.@CNN canceled my interview with them for a RT of an article that states actual facts in there, but for some reason they don’t say a word when people call @DLoesch a child murderer, the @NRA murderers, and @marcorubio is like looking down the barrel of an AR-15 on their network,” he added in a subsequent tweet.
The Malevolent Left
The third key player in all of this is the malevolent Left. The politicians and power brokers of the Left have but one goal, to implement Marxism in one form or another as the system of government for the United States.
A critical step in achieving this is disarming the American people. The strategy of these leftist organizations cannot be realized with a free and armed population. Therefore they will do whatever they deem necessary to destroy the right to bear arms.
Thus, there is no hesitation in exploiting youth who are clearly ignorant and misinformed about the issue of gun violence. The morality of the Left is flexible and adjustable and in their view, immorality is acceptable as a tactic to reach the objective.
The Left’s wealthiest and most powerful figures, headed by infamous billionaires George Soros and Michael Bloomberg supported the march. In fact, even before the march itself,
On March 7, the radical Soros-backed group [MoveOn.org] even boasted publicly of its role in the “student” movement, thanking its members who have “contributed to our work supporting student-led organizing” and taking on the NRA. Among other actions, the group has been circulating petitions, helping to lead the “students,” calling on companies to oppose gun rights, “asking schools to support students,” distributing “I stand with students” stickers, and much more.
If this effort succeeds, a true Constitutional crisis would ensue.
The Danger Reaches Beyond the Right to Keep and Bear Arms
The danger to the 2nd Amendment is both real and serious. However, the danger is not restricted to only that amendment. A successful challenge to the 2nd imperils the Constitution as a whole.
Should the 2nd fall, a right enshrined in the document would be taken from the people. It is a major move away from freedom and toward tyranny when the right which protects the others is destroyed. That is a step on the road to enslavement.
If such protection is removed, how long will it be before other rights begin to be curtailed and even done away with? Gun confiscation would be needed in order for firearms to be extinguished from society. That involves violations of privacy and property rights in order to implement this radical form of gun “control.”
The demise of gun rights would also involve infringement of the 1st Amendment. Speech against the erasure of the 2nd could be deemed illegal speech. Already the Left is calling it immoral to disagree with the students and defend the 2nd.
The rights of the states under the 10th Amendment would be rendered useless if the 2nd was repealed. The states would have to fall in line and violate their own constitutions to enact such a disastrous measure.
Strong and solid opposition to this anti-gun “movement” is necessary to halt it in its tracks. It requires being informed, active and speaking out. It must be an opposition that dares to dispute the claims of the Left thrown out from behind the faces of kids with the truth.
It will also involve a recognition of the true source of our freedom. The liberty we enjoy in America is a gift and blessing from God. It would be a mistake not to thank God and call for divine help while seeking to preserve that liberty.
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 [ESV]
